Kathmandu – Bimal Gharti Magar scored the decisive goal as Nepal defeated Mauritius 1-0 in their first of the two friendly football matches at Tripureshwar-based Dasharath Stadium on Saturday. Gharti Magar, who returned to the national team following a ban and injury layoff, scored the goal in the 55th minute, which later turned to be the decisive goal of the match.
He scored the winner from outside the penalty box with an assist from Anjan Bista in a long-distance pass. Bista had snatched the ball amid confusion among Mauritius defenders. Gharti Magar’s shot hit the post and entered the net. He was able to beat the offside trap to receive the long pass from Bista and score.
This is his first goal after scoring in the 2018 SAFF Championship. He now has nine goals to his name for the national football team.
The second match between Nepal and Mauritius is scheduled for coming Tuesday (February 1).
