Arsenal active on Deadline day

Arsenal are rumored to be in negotiations with Schalke 04 over a contract for Shkodran Mustafi. North London side are ready to unload the center-back, but on the final day of the transfer window, they are believed to want a premium to complete the deal.

The transfer is not supposed to be a big number with Arsenal believed to be willing to do business for around EUR 2-3 million. Mustafi has only started six times this season in all competitions and has yet to play a single minute in the Premier League. The 28-year-old is in the final six months of his contract and is eager to return to his homeland after joining Arsenal from Valencia.

Schalke is keen to secure Ozan Kabak’s replacement, who is closing in on a move to Liverpool. A loan fee is expected to be paid by the reigning Premier League champions. It’s allegedly rumoured to be in the region of £ 2.5m; to sign Kabak with an option to purchase in the summer until the end of the season. Liverpool is also close to finalizing the Preston North End center-back Ben Davies contract as well.

Arsenal are interested to bring in Patrick van Aanholt and Ryan Bertrand. They are under consideration as both players are out of contract at their respective clubs this summer. The transfer will rely in part on Ainsley Maitland-Niles leaving, who is attracting interest on loans from Southampton and Leicester City.

The club however is still open to allowing Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock to leave if it is possible to find sufficient agreements. At a news conference on Monday morning, Arteta was coy about the specifics.
