Kathmandu – Anjila Subba, goalkeeper of Nepal’s national women’s football, is all set to appear on the silver screen. She will be playing the lead role in a film based on her real story. It was informed during a press conference on Friday that the name of the film will be ‘Anjila’.

The film will be produced by Kendra Motion Pictures while the co-producer of the film will be Moon Light Entertainment. Besides Anjila, the film will also feature Dayahang Rai, Srijana Subba, Buddhi Tamang, Mao Tse Gurung, Prem Kumar Shrestha among other celebrities.
Prem Kumar Shrestha and Kendra Limbu are the producers of the film while the co-producers are Binod Agrawal and Rajesh Agrawal. The film will be directed by Milam Chams.
According to producer Shrestha, the shooting of the film will begin from mid-June. The producers have selected Ilam’s Fikal and Kathmandu as the shooting venue. They plan to release the film by upcoming Dashain festival.

“She decided to play in the movie as per her will. No one forced her,” said Shrestha, adding, “Anjila’s struggle is different from that of others. We are making this film by giving top priority to her journey.”
Anjila Subba has been nominated as one of the players in the People’s Choice category of the Pulsar Sports Awards to be held next week. Anjila is the first-choice goalkeeper of the national team as well as APF Sports Club. She was the goalkeeper when APF lifted the league title last season. She allowed only one goal in 12 matches of the league.
She had also played professional football from Pakistan’s Masa United. She had led the team during the last season.
