West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein broke the T20I world record of highest runs by number 10 batsman set by Nepal’s fast bowler Sompal Kami eight years ago.

Hosein played an unbeaten innings of 44 runs against England in their second T20I match on Monday smashing three boundaries and four sixes off 16 balls to set the new record. With this feat, Hosein has become the number 10 batsman to score maximum runs in T20I.

The record was earlier held by Kami, who achieved the feat in November 2014 against Nepal’s T20I match against Hong Kong. He had scored 40 runs on the occasion.

Despite an aggressive batting by Hosein, West Indies lost the match by just one run falling short of the target of 171 runs set by England by a whisker. West Indies made 170 runs in 20 overs losing 8 wickets.
