Preliminary selection of basketball and kabaddi players

Kathmandu – Preliminary selection of basketball and kabaddi players for the upcoming Asian Games has been completed. The concerned sports bodies have selected players for the preliminary squads in women’s category in both the sports disciplines.

Nepal Basketball Association’s Secretary Fanindra Shrestha informed that 8 players have been selected for the basketball team. Likewise, Nepal Kabaddi Association’s General Secretary Binod Prajapati  informed that 28 players have been selected for kabaddi.

Pratikshya Magar, Shreya Khadka, Garisha Silwal, Binamani Yonjan, Erica Shrestha, Amisha Ghale, Chiring Choki Sherpa and Mina Gurung have been selected for the 3X3 event of basketball.

Similarly, the players selected for the preliminary squad of kabaddi include Sunita Thapa, Manmati Bista, Nisha Bohora, Rabina Chaudhary, Menuka Rajbanshi, Jayanti Budha, Ganga Ghimire, Srijana Chaudhary, Anuja Kulung Rai, Srijana Sunar, Buddhimaya Magar, Kalawati Panta, Mina Nepali, Isha Rai, Laxmi Bishwakarma, Babita Pukuwal, Sabina Malla, Kamala Thapa, Ganga Raskoti, Kopila Karki, Ambika Katuwal, Sonam Chand, Puja Duwal, Neetu Gurung, Radhika Kadayat, Puja Rajbanshi, Dibya Kumari Shah and Arpana Chaudhary.

Nepal is participating in the women’s kabaddi event of Asian Games for the first time. The 19th Asian Games is scheduled to be held in China from September 10 to 25.
