By A Staff Reporter

Nepal is set to host the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier Playoff from December 4 to 21 in Kathmandu.

According to a press release issued by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Thursday, eight teams will compete in the tournament, which forms part of the qualification pathway for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, to be held in South Africa and Namibia.

The tournament will feature the bottom four teams from the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2, along with the top two teams each from the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League A and B.

Nepal, currently sixth in League 2, will participate in the playoff. Meanwhile, the top four teams in League 2 will secure places in the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier.

Nepal vs India ‘A’ Series to Be Rescheduled

Meanwhile, the three-match cricket series between Nepal and India ‘A’, originally scheduled for December 9, 11 and 13, will be rescheduled.

CAN confirmed that the decision follows Nepal being awarded the hosting rights for the World Cup Qualifier Playoff, which overlaps with the planned series.

The revised schedule will be finalised through coordination and mutual agreement between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and CAN.

CAN added that the new dates will be announced once they are confirmed.
