Kathmandu – Lalitpur Patriots, one of the franchise clubs of Everest Premier League, is all set to organize the Patriots Cup Inter-College T20 Cricket Championship from April 9 to 16 at Mulpani Cricket Ground.
Lalitpur Patriots announced the championship amid a press conference on Thursday. According to the organisers, altogether 8 colleges will participate in the championship. CEO of Lalitpur Patriots Niraj Koirala informed that two best players of this championship will be picked up by the club for the EPL 2022. That means, two out of four players that Lalitpur Patriots select from talent hunt will be finalized after this championship.
The two best players of this championship will get a chance to feature in the EPL regardless of the players’ level of experience. However, it is mandatory for them to be college-level students.
The event management will be undertaken by Alpha Sports Academy, Bafal. According to Koirala, the estimated cost of the event is around Rs 2.2 million to Rs 2.5 million.
The eight teams competing in the event will be divided in two groups. There will be a total of 15 matches. The top two teams of each group will enter the semifinals. The winner of the championship will bag a purse of Rs 100,000 while the runners-up will receive Rs 50,000.
The colleges selected for the championship include Golden Gate International College, Himalayan White House International College, Apex College, Blue Bird College, Texas International College, Morgan International College, Advance Academy and Omega College.
