Nepal’s first participation in FIA Motorsport Games returns empty-handed

Agency – Nepal marked its first participation in the FIA Motorsport Games 2022 held in France. Although Nepal returned empty hand, the players looked excited with the new start in the world of Nepali Sport.

The team of Diprash Shakya (Karting Sprint), and Jiswan Tuladhar Shrestha under the captaincy of Anil Baral (Team Captain) performed well in FIA Motorsport Games which is based on the Olympic format. The 70 players from all over the world participated in the mega event categorized as equivalence to World Cup. This is the first time Nepal has participated in such a high-level competition in motorsport games.

The president of the Nepal Automobiles Association (NASA Nepal) Dasarath Risal congratulated all the participants for the successful maiden participation and extended best wishes for further success. “This is a proud moment for Nepal and for us to represent our country on the world stage in such a fantastic way. I would like to congratulate all the participants for further success,” said Risal.

Players from more than 70 nations participated in the tournament. Despite the lack of high-level training and infrastructure, Nepali players participated in an international arena after the engagement in motorsports in Nepal for over a decade.

Skipper Anil Baral competed in an elite competition along with world champions and delivered a world-class performance. Diprash’s performance in the event was highly appreciated as it was their first time seeing Nepal in the competition.
