Nepalgunj Marathon and Dehradun Marathon penned down an agreement to develop marathon tourism in both cities of Asia.

Both marathons are recognized by the highest body of the world marathon, the Association of International Marathons and Road Races (AIMS). Dehradun Marathon is the first AIMS-recognized marathon of Uttaranchal Pradesh of India.
Nepalgunj Marathon founder president TS Thakuri and Dehradun Marathon director Anil Mohan penned down an agreement on Friday. Dehradun Marathon is scheduled to take place on October 16 and the eighth edition of the Nepalgunj Marathon will be held on December 10.
Mohan expressed that they are pleased to tie up with Nepalgunj Marathon. “We are very happy to sign an agreement between the prestigious marathons in two Asian cities to support each other. We believe that this agreement will promote marathon tourism. We will always be eager to welcome runners from Nepal.” said Mohan.
On the other hand, Thakuri expects religious tourism to be promoted with the agreement. “Haridwar and Rishikesh are major pilgrimage sites for Hindus, and Bageshwari Shaktipeeth located in Nepalgunj is equally important. We expect religious tourism to be promoted with this agreement.” Thakuri stated.
