Nepal Stresses on Making Anti-Doping Campaign Effective

Kathmandu – Nepal has made its presentation on the first day of the Anti-Doping meeting underway in Dubai of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Minister for Youth and Sports Maheshwar Gahatraj made the presentation on behalf of Nepal during the 17th Asia/Ocenia Region Intergovernmental Ministerial Meeting on Anti-Doping in Sports.

In his presentation, Sports Minister Gahatraj stressed on making the anti-doping campaign effective in Nepal.

Sports Secretary Dr Damodar Regmi informed that Nepal has already formed a directive committee for setting up a national anti-doping institution in the country. He further said that the government will formulate anti-doping policy in the coming days under its vision of clean sports.

The participating countries applauded the efforts made by Nepal to achieve its anti-doping goals. Altogether 45 nations attended the meeting from March 14 to 15 in the UAE. The participants stressed on the need to make anti-doping institutions more effective in order to keep the sports clean from drug abuse. The meeting also endorsed a strategy for 2022 to 2024.
