The Kathmandu District Court has issued an arrest warrant against Nepali National Cricket Team skipper Sandeep Lamichhane following the allegation of rape of a minor.
The Kathmandu District Police issued a statement stating that an arrest warrant has been issued against Sandeep Lamichhane. In the statement: “The complaint has been filed against the Captain of the Nepal National Team Sandeep Lamichhane on 2079/05/23. An arrest warrant has been issued by the Kathmandu District Court for further investigation on Mr. Sandeep Lamichhane for the offense of ‘No coercion’ under Section 219 of Chapter-18 of the Civil Crimes (Code) Act, 2074.”
An investigation was commenced by the District Police of Kathmandu after Lamichhane was accused of raping a 17-year-old minor.
According to the initial investigation, It has been found that Sandeep took the 17-year-old girl to various places in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur on 5th Bhadra and repeatedly molested the girl at 12:25 AM in room number 305 of a hotel located in Kathmandu District Metropolitan City 9. The CC Tv footage showed that Sandeep checked in to the hotel at 11:55 PM. The complaint was filed to the Police Circle Gaushala on Bhadra 21.
