ANFA managed to quell internal disputes for the time being

Kathmandu – The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has succeeded in resolving the dispute within the Executive Committee for the time being.

The Ex Co meeting decided to dismiss the appointment of Head of Foreign Affairs Nabin Pande, who has been the subject of the most controversy, and appointed him as an advisor of President Pankaj Bikram Nembang.

Likewise, the second Ex Co meeting held at the ANFA headquarters in Satdobato has decided to abandon the previous Momendroum of Understanding (MOU) with the Nepal Super League (NSL) organizer Nepal Sports and Events Management. At the same time, a committee has been formed to discuss with the NSL organizers regarding the new MOU under the chairmanship of President Nembang.

The meeting has nominated to appoint former ANFA President Narendra Shrestha as Honorary President and former Vice President Kishore Rai as Honorary Vice President. Furthermore, former central committee member Suresh Shah has been appointed as the spokesperson of ANFA as per the agreement they’ve done before the election.

ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai, who addressed the media after the completion of Ex Co Meeting said that the necessary decision will be taken regarding men’s senior team head coach Abdullah Almutairi only after he replies to the letter that ANFA sent based on the report submitted by the investigation committee. Almutairi has announced that he will respond to ANFA after consulting with his lawyer through his social networks.

Following are the decision made by the ANFA Ex Co meeting on Thursday.

A Division League to take place in Poush:

ANFA has fixed the date of Shahid Smarak A, B, and C Division League for this year. The meeting decided to conduct the A Division League from December 23, 2022, to March 18, 2023. The B Division League will start on March 20, 2023, after the conclusion of the A Division League and will be completed by 28th May, 2023.

Similarly, ANFA has planned to organize the C Division League from May 1st to June 10, 2023. Machhindra Football Club is the defending champions of the A Division League that concluded in Falgun last year. Moreover, ANFA has decided to organize the C Division League Qualifiers from June 16 to July 15, 2023.

NSL right after Dashain:

If the NSL Organizers and ANFA pens down a new MOU, the second edition of NSL will start right after the Dashain festival. ANFA has given its approval to organize NSL from October 9 to November 18, 2022. According to the date given by ANFA, NSL will start on the day of Kojagrat Purnima.
The date provided by NSL to ANFA collides with the 9th National Games scheduled to be held in Gandaki Province from October 14 to 20, 2022.

Tickets priced Rs. 300 and 500 for Women’s SAFF:

ANFA has decided the ticket rates for the Women’s SAFF Championship to be organized in Kathmandu from September 6 to 19, 2022. ANFA informed that it will charge Rs. 500 for the VIP parapet and Rs. 300 rupees for the general parapet. Seven countries will vie for the title. Hosts Nepal is drawn along with Sri Lanka and Bhutan in Group B’ whereas reigning champions India is drawn along with India, Bangladesh, Maldives, and Pakistan in Group A.

Humagain appointed as Acting Coach:

The Nepal National Men’s Football team will compete against Bangladesh in a friendly match on September 27, 2022, at Dashrath Stadium. ANFA has decided to appoint Pradip Humagain as the acting head coach of the Men’s National team for the friendlies. Humagain, who lives in America, helped Three Star Club to clinch the title of A division league a decade ago.

Humagain took charge of the NSL side Lalitpur City FC (LCFC) last year. He was sacked in the mid-season by LCFC as he failed to perform. Humagain is an AFC A licensed coach. There is a provision that National Team coaches must be Pro License holders.
